Dear Friday, It's so great to see you...

Earlier this week I stopped by the library to check out a couple of books I've been meaning
to read. But knowing me, thats never exactly how it works out. Let me paint you a picture: I enter the library looking for one or two books; an hour later, I exit with a bag of books as heavy as my college backpack. Needless to say, I am a library nerd.
Among the heaping pile of rented knowledge, one can usually find an assortment of hidden children's books within. I'm a fan of beautiful and unique illustrations, so I couldn't help by love the adorable book collection "This is" by M. Sasek. There are 18 books in the "This is" series. Here are a few examples of his work!

 M. Sasek was born in Prague in 1916 and died in Switzerzerland in 1980. He worked as a painter and illustrator for most of his life. Starting with This is Paris  published in 1958, the books he wrote painted a delightful and evocative picture of some of the world's great cities (and countries!). Having delighted children and adults for more than 50 years they are now being reissued.

This is Paris is the first of his collection and I was smitten from the start. I love his illustrations and the way he captures the various cities (countries) in is art.

Miroslav Sasek has become one of my favorite children’s book illustrators.
Who are some of your favorite illustrators?
